The Boys alter-ego band, The Yobs, began as a means of booking rehearsal studios where their record company, NEMS, had failed to pay bills booked in the name of The Boys. Later, when they were in dispute with NEMS, the name was also used as a thinly disguised means to ‘bootleg’ themselves outside of the control of NEMS (for the “Silent Night”/“Stille Nacht” single). The Yobs, who only ever released irreverent punky Christmas songs, gained an appreciative following in their own right.
